Heroes Bygone: Before the Long long Ago...

Before people got confused whether the world that they were living in was the real deal or was the Alternate Universe, the Marvel Universe was the real deal, there were a couple of superhero, cartoon and comic/comic strip characters that didn't dare to come out of the newsprint, or the television. The all encompassing hold of fantasy and fiction was not even born at the times these heroes were around, and therefore were strictly fun.

He-Man, was the alter-ego of Prince Adam, son of King Randor, who got his power from a Castle, known as Grayskull, where he'd go with his all-powerful sword and chant the magic mantra 'By the Power of Grayskull.. I have the power!' This was a ultra famous mantra some twenty or thirty years ago. Prince Adam/He-Man is helped by various of his subjects, and his pet tiger, Cringer, who gets the power of the sword along with him, becoming Battle Cat.

He-Man had a successful enough run as a cartoon character and action toy figure. The cartoons, made by Filmation had He Man or one of his trusted lieutenants give some sort of public service message to the kids and their parents watching the show on a lazy Sunday morning.

Masters of the Universe or MOTU as it was later dubbed out to be, had a number of interesting characters, like Ram Man, Man At Arms, Stratos and of course, eye candy like Teela and Eveyln. There was also a sorceress who could take the form of a bird (!) and fly sometimes to He Man's rescue!

As of now, the MOTU series have been tried to be revamped and released. But other than the cartoon episodes of He Man, the only other exposure He Man has got is the (flop) movie starring Dolph Lundgren as He Man.

A new movie on the Masters of the Universe series is scheduled for 2008, with rumors tapping Brad Pitt as He Man. No, he won't look good.
