Hummer - Symbol for Power and Strength

Considering the Rolls Royce to be the epitome of royalty and comfort, the Hummer can easily be considered to be the epitome of symbols for power and strength. The Hummer was originally built by AW General, the military division of American Motors. The Hummer is based on the military vehicle, the Humvee. So yes, the beast on the road does have military blood in it's veins. It is simply a civilian model of the Humvee. It was first built in 1992.

The Hummer is built mainly for off-road transport. Proof of this was created when two the Hummer was driven from London to Beijing. The Hummer is not a car in the strictest sense of the word. It is a classified Class 3 truck.

It can climb around twenty to twenty three inches of wall, while it can comfortably operate till around thirty inches of water. One major feature of the Hummer is that it does not float in the water, nor does it become any amphibious vehicle, it is built in such a way that it can create and maintain traction underneath. There is no stick shift option in Hummer, all Hummer models have an automatic transmission. Around a thousand to one thousand two hundred Hummers are built every year.

The Hummer has always been related to machismo and brute strength. Nobody else but Arnold Schwarzenegger was impressed by the vehicle when he saw it during the shooting of Kindergarten Cop, and it was then that AW General decided to create the civilian Hummer.
