Blackle: One More Step to Save Energy

The world is facing energy crisis and people are trying to innovate new techniques to save energy. One of such effort is blackle.com.

Blackle runs on the principle that the display of different amount of colors on the computer monitor consumes more energy. It uses black background with search engine similar to made by Heap Media Australia. They say the idea came from the blog which stated that the black google can save up to 750 Megawatt-hours a year.

As Google does not own the Blackle it lacks the features of original (like catched and similar). Blackle also does not provide iGoogle feature. But One can see a count of the number of energy saved on Blackle Homepage.

The concept of Blackle is good but still not approved by many. The site also do not put any light on the type and size of monitor on which they tested power usage. Some tests done by the individuals showed that some of the LCD monitors actually consume more power.

But this is actually the first good step from the world which runs on Power to save the power and every one should welcome it.
