Places to visit

Wilson Dam One of the finest site for picnic is Wilson Dam. Wilson Dam is also known as Bhandardhara Dam. It is built in 1910 on the Pravara river, the dam is almost 150 meters above the sea level and attracts crowds from all over the country. It is one of the oldest dam in Asia and largest earthen Dam in India.

It is an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature. Besides being a scenic spot, these falls are also used for hydro power generation. However the main attraction of this place is the Umbrella falls, Unfortunately, these picturesque falls are enjoyed only during the monsoons when the water level in the lake is considerably high.This makes the Wilson Dam a suitable place for picnics.

Mount Kalsubai

Do you love treks ..........then you can't miss this spot. Mount Kalsubai is the highest peak of Maharashtra, on the Sahyadri range. Standing at an altitude of 1,646m above sea level, this mountain is famous for trekking. It also gives breathtaking views of the Arthur Lake and the Wilson Dam. During the Maratha rule, this peak point served as the watchtower.It is an ideal place for those who enjoy trekking, as are the surrounding hills. There is a small temple at the top, with an old well in its backyard. Legend has it that the level of the well water never drops below 3 feet. Agasti Rishi Ashram This place attracts lots of tourists. It is situated on the bank of the Pravara River. Mythologiacal story behind the Ashram is that Lord Ram, Laxman and Sita visited Agasti Rishi. The Rishi had then given Lord Rama a miraculous arrow which was used to kill the devil, Ravana, in order to rescue Sita Ratangadh The Ratangadh fort is a few kilometers away from the MTDC resort. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj captured this fortv and was only of his favorites. Must to visit for a breathtaking view and ofcourse favourite amongst Trekkers. Amriteshwar

Amriteshwar is built almost around 1100 AD. It is distinct Hemadpanti style.

Ghatghar : Ghatghar is situated 22kms from Bhandardara and offers excellent views of the Sahyadri ranges.The entire region is a wildlife sanctuary and the forests shelter a host of jungle birds and mammals.
