Gods Of Gaming - 4

After such colossal hits, there were a number of has-beens, wannabes and half-baked concepts, which didn't really interest the gaming community. And then came the masterpieces. The games that every gamer love to play again and again.

Soldier of Fortune: Another game which brought back the shoot 'em genre back into the limelight. Some people may term 'Serious Sam' as the game which really brought back shoot 'em up back, but SOF wins hands down in terms of playability and repeat playability.

Soldier of Fortune had a Vietnam vet taking up jobs of eliminating the enemies of the state.

Max Payne: The Quake Engine had outgrown it's use. People were tired of seeing guns blazing and killing off aliens/soldiers or whatnot. They had seen Tomb Raider and played it, but some were put off by the minimal set of actions Lara Croft could do. And then along came Max Payne.

Max Payne was the definitive guide to have gaming would be. One of the few games which really had a storyline, it was one of the most ambitious games in the world.

Max Payne followed the life and times of a cop in New York, Max, whose life goes haywire after his family is killed by the mafia. Sounds like an action movie? Well, the game had a movie feel to it. And a movie after the popular characters is in the making.
