Second Life:The 360 Degrees of Chat

Chat has changed in the few decades. Today, it has changed from a verb to an adjective and now to a noun. While chat was considered to be kiddish and teeny, today it has become a very viable and implementable business concept.

One important and massive player in the 3D chat world is Second Life from Linden Labs. Second Life can quite simply be termed as a 'miracle' of the Internet and modern world.

Its a free sign in, and you have your own, true to pixel avatar. You can give your avatar clothes, skins, shapes, almost anything you would dream of. And then, it is up to you to explore the world, meet new people, make friends, all that stuff.

Second Life has had major enhancements as compared to the first version which came out (in fact, the latest version of the software is available at the time of writing). Of course, you need a proper broadband connection and at least a 512 graphics card to understand the actual and total experience of any 3D chat, let alone Second Life.

There are two types of sign-ins available, the free one, where you do not get the goodies like skins, shapes and other in-chat goodies and the paid one, which entitles you to a certain amount of in-chat money, called Lindens to buy all the goodies.

Of course, Second Life is not a complete product, and there are enhancements through patches coming in almost on a monthly basis. But go to Second Life and try it once. It is a experience that one should not miss - the experience of what the Internet will soon be - three hundred and sixty degrees of a pure, refined new world.
