Nano - Tata's Dream Car for People

The One lakh miracle. The car for the poor, Tata's gift to India, these and other adjectives and emotions have been used to describe the Tata Nano. What is the Tata Nano? Well, its supposed to be the cheapest car in the world. And it is also supposed to help a lot many things, other than the people who could never afford a car. It is also supposed to help the economy and many other things. It was, of course, highly hyped. Hyped so much that any car that came out at the time would have been compared to the Nano, if it was a new Mercedes model. The question would be, why doesn't this come in a one lakh model?

Anyway, when the dust settled down, further details came out about the car, and I was astonished. For one, the car had only one wiper and did not have a passenger seat rear view mirror. Of course, these will not matter when you are in the showroom and buying the car, but get out on the road once and then you will realise just how much these matter. Of course, you can also add these things later on, but then, it isn't a one lakh car, is it? Simply, it means that even Tata couldn't come up with a complete car inside that magic amount.

Of course, the car is a boon to people who have been taking public transport all their lives, and for those who have that nasty eighteen year old who just wants a car, but giving them the keys of the family car would be a free ticket to Disasterville.
