New Year Resolutions

The New Year has many traditions attached to it in many cultures. However, one common tradition that comes with the New Year is New Year resolutions. New Year resolutions are something that almost everyone thinks about, many people plan about, and a very few percentage of people actually adhere and are successful. There are many reasons why New Year resolutions are forgotten along with the hangover the next morning. Here are some ways to at least ensure that your New Year Resolutions actually stand the test of time.

  • Be Moderate: The saying ‘Aim at the moon and you will at least land at the stars’ seems good only on paper. And then, ‘beggars cannot be choosers’ is a saying that just does not do justice to a resolution. One has to be moderate while choosing their resolutions. The classic ones, like ‘I want to quite smoking’ and ‘I want to lose weight’ just do not work because they require a lot of sincerity, eagerness and patience.
  • Be Completely Sure: As far as we know, human beings are more eager about getting something as compared to losing something. So, resolutions like losing weight and quitting smoke go out of the window directly. Of course, this can be solved with a slight change in the words – instead of ‘I want to LOSE ten pounds’; you can say ‘I want to GAIN fitness’.
  • Attitude, Attitude, Attitude: A negative attitude will get you nowhere. Go into battle with the thought that ‘Am Gonna Die Anyway’ and you WILL die after tripping down, your head clunking right against a sharp edged stone, and being bitten by the most poisonous snake ever known to mankind. And all this when your entire army comes back, untouched and unhurt. And the same goes for a New Year resolution too.

So, do not think that you will not be able to complete the resolution, just go ahead and walk the talk and you may just be the envy of the town, simply because you succeeded in your New Year resolution.
